Tiba + Marl x The Happy Newspaper

For every T+M x Smiley® piece sold, Tiba + Marl will spread the happiness by sending a copy of positive vibes paper The Happy Newspaper to a UK school.

The Happy Newspaper was first published in December 2015 by Emily Coxhead (pictured above with her 'Sumi' Smiley Tote) - a British designer, illustrator and happy thing maker! Based in a small village in Lancashire, the simple aim of this 28-year-old entrepreneur is to make the world a happier place.

The concept for The Happy Newspaper  began as a small idea when Emily realised the effect that the news was having on her especially whilst she was going through a difficult time herself.  The Happy Newspaper celebrates all that’s good in the world; a platform to share positive news and wonderful people. The first issue launched in December 2015. Since then, The Happy Newspaper has been released quarterly, containing happy news which has been collected over a period of three months.

This year, Emily has launched The Happy News For Schools, she says: “I believe that children deserve to be hearing about the good stuff going on in the world and not constantly surrounded by terror and fear. I want to encourage and inspire children to find their own happy news and look for the kindness in their schools and communities."

For every Smiley x T+M bag purchased we send out a Happy Newspaper with the customers order, and we also send another copy along to a local primary school - so we can all share in the Happy news reading, as everyone, particularly kids in schools, have had to deal with a lot over the course of this pandemic.

Tiba + Marl Co-Founder Anna (pictured below with Lydia) says: "We both have two school aged children so we know first-hand how hard the pandemic and lockdown has been on the younger generation's mental health.  We hope that by focussing on good news and setting a positive example we can encourage kids to read The Happy Newspaper and go some small way to make them feel a little bit more positive about things :)"
